The Lovely Ladies

Matron of Honor Lindsay Cohen

Hi everyone, I am Lindsay Cohen, Mandy’s favorite little sister.  I live in St. Louis and work as a dietitian.  I enjoy shopping, traveling, eating, watching reality TV shows, and spending time with my dog, Aspen.
My favorite story involving Mandy took place a couple of years ago when my mom and I were visiting Mandy in New York.  After leaving dinner with Dustin and his family, Mandy got picked up on the subway by a drunk man in an Olympic swimming jacket claiming to be Ryan Lochte.  We later found out that this wierd man was actually the real Ryan Lochte. Watch out Dustin!

Elizabeth Foster

Elizabeth is Mandy’s friend & former roommate. They met in 2008 when Mandy moved to Atlanta for her work with the Institute of Southern Jewish Life. Elizabeth works at The Temple and Mandy came on board as a religious school teacher. The following year they moved into in a mansion/apartment together. It was a glorious year!  Mandy introduced Elizabeth to the magic that is shatter nail polish and each week they watch America’s Next Top Model together. At the end of that year, Mandy began her studies at HUC. Elizabeth was critical keeping Mandy up to date on all the things she was missing on American television. When Mandy returned from Israel and moved to New York City, Elizabeth got to see her yearly on her trips with her Confirmation class. They had fun adventures in the city while keeping all the teens super safe! New York City became the ultimate meet up place when Elizabeth flew in for a day to eat at Max Brenner’s (CHOCOLATE!!) and try on wedding dresses with Mandy. On that day, Mandy asked Elizabeth to be her bridesmaid. Let’s just say they are awesome friends!

As you know, Mandy and Dustin have a bunny named Mazel. So here are a few jokes:

-What did the bunnies do after their wedding? They went on their bunnymoon.

-Why did the bunny eat the wedding ring? Because he heard it was 18 carrots.

-What happened when the bunny met the rabbit of his dreams? They lived hoppily ever after.

Sabine Maura

I’m Sabine, but if you’ve ever been around Mandy and I, you might also know me as “Rooms,” which is coincidentally my nickname for her, too. I’m from Brooklyn, NY but met Mandy in undergrad at Tulane University where we became fast friends bonding over a love of Bamba and mardi gras parades.

Between then and now I’ve worked in educational media designing events and creating content to support a children’s television show. I am currently in Thailand working with an NGO on an anti-bullying initiative. By the time we meet I’ll have a shiny new masters degree in Social Innovation and Leadership and tales from Bangkok. Looking forward to meeting everyone and celebrating this amazing step in Mandy and Dustin’s lives! Mandy and I have giggled from New Orleans to St. Louis to Jerusalem to NYC. She’s the friend I’ve traveled the most to see and we have the inside jokes to prove it!

Nina Loftspring

Nina and Mandy meet during their HUC year in Israel after Elizabeth Foster told them to be friends. It was a wonderful, magical, decision and soon Mandy and Nina were hanging out regularly in Israel- skipping services, and judging mandatory, supplementary programming. Back in New York City, the two were in every class together and taught at the same synagogue. During Super Storm Sandy, Nina moved into Mandy’s small one bed-room apartment that Mandy shared with a mouse named Felix. Mandy was nice enough to offer Nina electricity, access to a shower, and all the chocolate that Mandy refused to eat. Since Mandy rudely left Nina alone in NYC- Nina has made yearly pilgrimages to visit Mandy, Dustin, and the South Florida State Fair. Nina has yet to develop a taste for boiled peanuts. In their long distance friendship, Nina and Mandy have continued their love of skipping services and judging.

 Rayna Green

Rayna and Mandy met in Jerusalem during their first year at Hebrew Union College. Coincidentally, they lived across the street from each other and quickly bonded over their love for country music. A few more of their common interests include; going on sukkah hunts, Top Model style photo shoots in the Golan, and manicures. A few things they simply cannot agree upon are peanut butter and sushi.

Rayna currently lives in New York City with her husband Eli and their dog Tsuki. She is looking forward to being ordained as a cantor in May.

Mandy was one of Rayna’s bridesmaids in her wedding in 2013. Rayna cannot wait to return the honor by standing beside her dear friend Mandy, as she marries the love of her life this fall!

 Dana Herlich

Dana and Dustin a LONG time ago.

Dana and Dustin a LONG time ago.

Hi all, my name is Dana and I am the better Herlich. I love to travel, eat, sleep, and read. And I love music and concerts!! I’m not sure what my favorite story with Dustin is, we have a lot of interesting moments together where odd things happen. My favorite thing to do with him would probably be how whenever we are together we get food that I normally don’t get at home, like Thai and Indian. I am beyond excited to be a part of something as special as the bridal party so I would like to say thank you to the ever lovely Mandy for even considering me. I can not wait to have you as part of the Herlich family and =I am looking forward to all the memories we will make in the future. I hope you guys move back to New York so I can see you more often.  I wish you all the luck in the world and for you guys to have an amazing day and a ton of fun for the rest of your lives.

Mandy and Meital met in high school and have been close friends ever since.   They bonded over their love of food, travel and just being awesome.  Even though they each moved away from St. Louis after high school they have always remained close and visited each other wherever they each went.  Together they ate beignets in New Orleans, fried chicken in Mississippi, deep dish pizza in Chicago, ramen in New York, coca-cola in Atlanta… where they also encountered a huge, tall, burly man dressed in a tutu (at whole foods of all places)… And they have always had each other to count on.  If either one ever needed advice, a recommendation letter, a reference letter or just someone to listen to their day they always know where to turn.  Meital is overjoyed that Mandy found her awesome Dustin (who still owes Mei a  home-cooked dinner!) and that they have asked her to be part of their joyous day.
